The Borings, of Pittsburgh, PA are suing Google for “intentional and/or grossly reckless invasion” because their home can be seen using Google Maps. The lawsuit contends their privacy has been infringed upon, thus decreasing the value of their home. They are seeking $25,000 in damages. In an ironic twist, it is now easier to find their home using Google maps, their home address is on the first page of the lawsuit.

Here’s a smattering of U.S. legislation to watch in 2008 that could have a substantial impact on people’s lives throughout the world:

Global Poverty Act (sponsored by Senator Barack Obama) would require the U.S. to provide for the implementation of the Millennium Development Goal of alleviating poverty and promoting sustainable development.
GROWTH Act (Global Resources and Opportunities for Women to Thrive Act) would increase U.S. support of economic opportunities for women living in poverty worldwide.
Global Democracy Promotion Act would overturn a policy referred to as the “Global Gag Rule.”
United Nations Population Fund Women’s Health and Dignity Act would promote women’s and family health.
